New System Design

My darling wife (you may know her poetic Louise Blog)  and  have been discussing the merritts of building/buying a new desktop computer system for the house. Through much discussion and possible uses we have decided to jump to the top (or very near the top anyway) of the technology pile so that we have very few, if any limitations on what the machine can do. I have come up with the following design for the new system:
